Dear participants, please do not feed the wild boars in Nida surroundings!

 

European Championships surroundings are highly populated by wild boars. Be very careful while driving, there is a great chance they will be by the roads.

 

Wild animals must live in the forest rather than getting used to human support. You can stop to say hello, but never give them food.

An o-coach from Lithuania R.Švagždienė has collected information about the first orienteering with bikes in Lithuania.

First competitions were held in 1961 in a memory of Liudas Alseika (1887-1960), famous lithuanian traveller. They were organized in 21/05/1961 in Klaipeda district, where the European MTBO championships 2008 will be held.

Her first MTBO event was the WRE in Slovakia 2005, after that there were quite many foot and mountainbike orienteering events. She was able to show her qualities during MTB WOC 2007 in Czech republic as the main English speaker and as the interview speaker during WOC 2007 in Ukraine.

Mountainbike orienteering belongs to her priorities and we are glad to have her here!
